2009 Christmas Letter

Our lives have been wonderfully normal this year, probably just like yours. Some days were so filled with laughter that we often smirk at the memories. Others brought tears and small cuts to our heart that are still tender to the touch. Although we realize this is the natural ebb and flow of life, our faithful Creator constantly holds us through it all. Christ enables us to look forward with hope to next year’s joys and also to its tough times, knowing whatever comes is for our growth and God’s glory.

Our biggest change involved enrolling Caleb in public high school full-time. He loved football and plopped right down onto the honor roll. Somewhere amidst his busy days, he found time to pick up a pretty little girlfriend. Actually, everyone looks little next to him now. He towers at 6’ and 190 lbs. His nighttime reading includes Jesus Freaks twice now. Preparing a whole meal for the family and poetry seem to be his best ways of expressing his heart. Some days it’s hard to let go of him and other days we are eager to share our great kid with the world. Our training time quickly winds down as he starts heading towards that infamous exit ramp.

Sarah continues to blossom at home with her school and just with life in general. Blossom. Yep, that’s the word for our blooming Sarah. She brings a sweet smell with her everywhere she goes and delights those around her. Anything artsy catches her eye and time. Knowing this love, we arranged for her to attend a music class and a combined Social Studies/Art class at the school across the street. She enjoys the saxophone and art projects but found it hard to believe that kids could go to school all day and still have homework to do too. What a lark!

Now about Steven and I. We are in our thirties.

Merry Christmas from us and we really mean that.
