New Year's Weekend gently dumped a foot of snow on us. After the streets are scooped, a huge snowpile shows up across the street from us, huge enough to sled and snowboard on! Here's Sarah half-buried by Caleb's handiwork. Posted by Picasa

You're never gonna believe this but I think I must have turned into a real princess!

On my Birthday Saturday:
I got a surprise present from a friend that I was giving a present to for her birthday!

On my Birthday Sunday:
I got a package at church from my Secret Sister and I think I know who she is already! Go super sleuth Marcia!

On my Birthday Monday:
I never did dishes or cooked or cleaned all day long!
The family let me open presents first thing in the morning and I loved them (both the presents and the family)!
I wore a new to me pair of Lucky Brand Jeans from the thrift store for only a buck!
Tons and lots of friends stopped by all day, bringing me cupcakes and wishing a Happy Birthday, until I had 33 of them!
I got REAL mail, four real pieces!
One of them even had money in it, but I've been so good (for two whole days already) and haven't spent it yet!
Our home team won their game of basketball that night and we were there to see it!
We played Settlers of Catan that afternoon and I won, a rare feat indeed!
When Caleb and I teamed up against Steven and Sarah, we won Pictionary and didn't cheat or nothing!

Lovely day, lovely day, LOVE LY DAY!

On my Birthday Tuesday:
I got a package in the mail and love having my back massaged!

On my Birthday Wednesday:
I got another piece of real mail with the sweetest note!
I'm sickly with a nasty sore throat and, therefore, still being pampered!

I don't know what tomorrow holds but...

On my Birthday Friday:
I hope to drive to visit a college student from our church in Watertown!
We, a kid or two and I, hope to drive to Sioux Falls to see my parents and my sister and her husband from Cheyenne!

Is life grand or what?!

A friend from North Dakota lent us the silliest movie that helps keep life in perspective. It's called "Harvey" and stars James Stewart. They filmed it in the 1950's so it's black and white. Funny, funny. Funnier each time you see another part of it over again. Hey! Maybe I could use that birthday money to buy it for us on a DVD.... No! I'm trying to save it. But it would be nice to have.... And kids are starving in Africa.... But they have it on ebay for only..... Enough already!

Praying you're finding the pleasant things in life to make you smile too!

Blessings,

Marcia for the Swann's

P.S. New Year's Eve I dyed my hair Terracotta Red. Very Terracotta Red. It looked, um, eye-catching. The box claimed it lasted for two months but I can barely tell anything's different anymore. So sad. Oh well, three dollars isn't bad for a week of fun and crazy looks from others. I think I made more than one person smile and wag their head. I did really like the color, though. Steven, the dear color blind husband that he is, loved it too!
